SHULTZ, Robert John “Dutch,” 75, of Richmond, passed away September 11, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Margot Lee Shultz; children, Pete Shultz (Tracy), Beth Shultz Filmanski (Tyson) and Chris Shultz (Katie); and six grandchildren. Dutch served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force as a medic during two tours in Vietnam, then in Germany as a medical aide to General David Burchinall. He was a consummate sales person, and during his career, worked for General Medical/McKesson and Carolina Furniture Co. Also known as an expert stamp dealer, he was often asked by others to authenticate materials. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Virginia for their compassionate care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2019, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Virginia. Photograph credit: Taggart Lee.

Help needed Wednesday and Friday this week

Good morning, Brothers.

As a reminder, we have two important events occurring this week and highly encourage those who are able to attend to be there in support.

Tomorrow evening (Wed, 9/25), we’re hosting a First Degree exemplification in the Church Hall (the social area directly downstairs from the church).  The event begins at 7pm, and all attending are asked to be there by 6:45pm.  We’d like to have members of our Council there to support and participate as needed.  The ceremony only lasts approximately 30 minutes, and a homemade dinner will be served immediately following the ceremony.  Please come support new members as they join the Knights!

We’re still in need of volunteers to assist with this Friday’s funeral Mass for our good Brother Dutch Schultz.  Here are the names I’ve received so far.  I’ll continue to update as I receive others.

  • 2 Knights to carry the ossuary
    • Bart Leahey
    • Knight 2
  • 4 gift bearers
    • Bart Leahey
    • Knight 2
    • Knight 3
    • Knight 4
  • 2 eucharistic ministers
    • Don Delaney (Sacristan)
    • Knight 2
  • 2-3 Greeters (Pre-Mass) & Ushers
    • Phil Koren
    • Ron Campbell
    • Knight 3
  • Honor Guard (Ron Campbell is coordinating with Eddie Whitlock from Assembly 1165) – Gary Port is available to assist, as needed.

While I recognize mid-week events can be difficult to attend given busy schedules, I encourage those who can make time to join us in these important celebrations.  Thank you in advance, and Vivat Jesus.

Fraternally,

Bart

Council 5476 Launches new Gmail Account

090519      Good morning, Brothers of Council 5476!

Earlier this week, Ron Campbell and I sat down together and set up a new Google account for our Council.  This account will streamline our ability to distribute Council-wide e-mails to our Members, update/share documents, and manage a Council-specific calendar.

Please note that I’m sending this from our new Council 5476 e-mail address (knightsof5476@gmail.com) that we’ll use for all communications with Council members and the State and Supreme offices.  If you have any Knights-specific questions for Ron or me, please feel free to use this e-mail address, as we check it daily.

We appreciate your support of this work-in-progress and welcome your thoughts and feedback as we expand usage of the account to manage our Council’s day-to-day operations.

Vivat Jesus!
