Commonwealth Catholic Charities Food Drive – SBCC Update

Commonwealth Catholic Charities Food Drive

Thank you Knights of Council 5476!

Your food donation in January of 110 grocery bags was a blessing in helping to feed our needy neighbors who are struggling to keep their families fed.  To have to make a choice to either pay their heating bill or buy groceries is a  decision no one should have to make. You have helped needy families get beyond that choice!

Our next food drive will be the weekend of March 9th and 10th. Volunteers and the Knights of Columbus will be handing out empty grocery bags after all masses.  Please do not pass them by.

Your donation of food  means so much to those less fortunate than ourselves.   Thank you for your continued support of this ministry.

Marach 17 – Pro-Life Effort

Please forward this to our membership.  I only had one volunteer plus me, so we have to postpone to March 17.  Please prayerfully consider helping this pro-life effort.

As you can see as you scroll down, it is something we have been asked to help with by our Pastor and the Knights are supposed to be at the forefront of our Parish’s pro-life efforts.  Please respond to both Paul Amrheim and me if you can help at one of the Masses on March 16th or 17th.  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

 Fraternally,   Mike K.

Msgr. Carr is ok with postponing. March 17 is the next available date.  After that is Palm Sunday and Easter.

I will put us down for March 17 unless you have some compelling reason to wait till April.

We are planning a postcard campaign initiated by the NCHLA and our Diocesan office of Justice and Peace.

IT is scheduled for the last weekend of February here at ST. Bridget.  I would like to enlist the aid of the Knights.

The way Msgr. and I worked it out is we would like to have the postcards in the pews (see attached).  There are 4 cards to a  sheet.  We would put the cards in the pews before mass along with pens. After the prayer of the faithful people would have time to fill them out. Then they would be taken up in a second collection basket along with a donation for postage.  The Knights could be involved in putting the cards in the pews, collecting in the second collection and then sorting the cards form the money (money will go into second collection bags marked for postage and counted by our regular counters) and detaching them along the perforations.  Msgr. also asked me to ask you if the Knights would be willing to make up the difference in postage if there is any?  I will take care of putting on the postage and making sure everyone has a reps name filled in.

What do you think?  Do you think you could get the Knights to help.  Probably only need two to a mass.  10 minutes before mass and maybe 15 minutes after to do the sorting and take the cards apart (we might could ask people to take the cards apart – might make them easier to collect – though it would make a bunch of noise).

Caritas Committee Needs Our Assistance

Brother Knights

Good morning friends,

The CARITAS committee would like to ask for your assistance.  They are in desperate need of men’s underwear for our guests.  Very few donations have come in this year.  The needs are:

Men’s briefs  Small, Large, X Large and XXL

Men’s boxers  Small. Large, XLarge and XXL

Men’s undershirts(white t shirts)  Small, Large, XLarge and XXL and XXXL

Would it be possible to contact your ministries and see if there are people who can donate these items,  They can just drop them off in the Commons.

Thanks so much
