Dear Brothers,

I’m so pleased to report that we have set a new collection record at 22 Units. It beats the old record, since my tenure as coordinator, by one unit. It is also up significantly from the 12 units we collected at the last blood drive.

I realize that not everyone is able to donate blood, and sometimes the timing is not right to give, but I want to personally thank everyone in our council for your support of this effort. I received wonderful feedback and interest from all of you, which makes my efforts even more worthwhile. Do you know that we can SAVE up to three lives with each unit of blood donated? That’s a staggering thought for me to comprehend, as well as significantly meaningful.

A special thanks to our Brothers Jose, Randy, Ron, Gary and Sam; I hopefully didn’t overlook anyone! Please chime in if I missed you. Thank you!!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
yours truly, John

Brother John,

Congratulations! Great effort and it truly paid off! (even if you did have to force Ann to be the final donor to reach your new record! :-))

Glad it was a super success, John!

Best,

John

John,

I am so sorry to be slow in responding. I was at Colonial Heights High School all day yesterday. The St. Bridget blood drive did awesome!! We registered 23 people and collected 19 whole blood and one double = 22 units! I definitely think everything you did helped a lot! Thank you! Please let me know any feedback you have for me and thoughts about 2016. Below are some dates for 2016 (I could not remember if I sent them yet) Let me know if they work.

Thank you again for your time and dedication to the blood drives! It is truly a pleasure working with you! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and eat lots of iron rich foods 😉

Thank you to Ann also for donating!

Exemplifications

MembershipLogoColor-EnFirst Degree Brothers,

Save the date Nov 18, 2015 Wednesday, time 6:30PM at Council 395 at Columbian Center on Pump Rd behind Tuckahoe Rescue Squad.

Membership card, coat and tie required.

Please let me know if you plan on attending this Second Degree Exemplification Ceremony.

The Knights of Columbus seeks, for all brothers,  to advance to full membership of the 3rd degree.

Each degree of the Order teaches a lesson about the Knight and expands the brother’s awareness.

The 1st degree is done at the council level.

The 2nd degree is at the district level, and exposes brothers to the other councils in their area.

The 3rd degree is at the state level where one can see how extensive the Knights are.

The lessons of each degree follow this pattern:

the 1st is charity, which is always closest to home.

The 2nd is unity where we will pull together and

the 3rd is fraternity: all of us pulling together.

The 2nd degree continues the Knighthood journey and builds understanding and awareness, helps explain why we work together to help each other and make good things happen.

Next Third Degree Opportunity – Should be announced at this degree ceremony.

Fraternally,

Gary Port, Membership Director

CHRISTMAS CARD SALES + ORNAMENTS

Brothers,

Council 5456 will begin selling our yearly Christmas cards this Sunday, November 7 after mass. I would like to sell them after every mass until they are sold out, or until November 28.

We will also be selling the last 100 ornaments once they arrive. I believe that we have 50 of those presold already. Please let me know if you can man the booth after mass.  I especially could use help after mass on Saturday, Sunday at 7:30, and Sunday evening. I will set up the table on Saturday afternoon and leave some change in the cashbox.  More details later. Thank you very much. My best, John Port
