two important events due December 12th

Brothers,

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family!

On Saturday, December 12th there are two important events being undertaken to help the needy in our community.

  1. Our Council is sponsoring a Food Drive to collect food for the pantry at Commonwealth Catholic Charities and to collect Christmas Dinner bags for families of Blackwell School.  Information related to these needs is in the first flyer below.  You may contribute food or gift cards for the CCC, or assemble a Christmas Dinner bag for a Blackwell family – or both!
  1. The Annual St. Bridget Christmas Sharing is underway and parishioners are invited to adopt an individual or a family and to donate gifts and food.  Information about the needs of the individuals and families is located on the Christmas Sharing website.  Please click on the flyer below or this link.  Times for the drop-off of gifts is on the website, including on Saturday morning, Dec. 12th.  Contact Dan Harms for more information at Dan Harms (dharms@saintbridgetchurch.org).

Please consider supporting both these worthwhile initiatives.  The food banks are reporting very high demand and very much need food to be able to help as many as they can.  And, the Christmas Sharing will help many individuals and families have a joyous Christmas.

As we are just two weeks from the collection date, so adopt a family or individual today for Christmas Sharing.

We are in need of more helpers on Saturday December 12th.  Please let me know if you can volunteer during the 8:30 to 10:30 shift, or the 10:30 to 12:30 shift (includes drop-off at Catholic Charities.  please communicate pass this on, too to others in your family, and friends that you believe would like to participate.  I would very much appreciate if you can immediately forward this on!

Thank you so very much!

St Bridget Coad Drive Success – Letter to Monsignor Carr

Dear Reverend Monsignor Carr, Dr. Clift, clergy, and all the wonderful staff of St. Bridget Church and School,

We at your Knights of Columbus Council 5476, wish to thank all of you for the tremendous support of the Coats for Kids drive you provided, last week. For all your efforts (getting the word out during Mass, the email and bulletin blasts, permission to put collection bins for the week on Snowball, and the many other things you did unheralded), please know that the drive was a complete success and the community at large will benefit.

Parishioners and school parents really were true heroes too. I was overwhelmed by not just the number of coats, but the quality of the jackets, sweaters and other articles of clothing people freely gave.

So how did we all do?

It turns out our faith community shattered the record of coats collected since 1988. They estimate we turned in 1300-1500 coats throughout the week. The largest drop off in history prior to this was 700, when another school contributed to the drive. We have been asked to help them again, next year, and with your permission and blessing, we will do so.

This has been truly great for the kids and their financially distressed parents who will benefit from these efforts.

Thanks to all of you, we truly gave the Gift of Warmth to many this year.

God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving!
