“Christmas Eve Dinner at the VA Hospital” reminder

Thursday, 24 December 2015

02:00 PM to 04:00 PM
(GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US Canada)

McGuire Veterans’ Hospital

Each year, on Christmas Eve, at 2:00 pm, members of the Knights of Columbus in the Richmond area converge on the McGuire Veteran’s Hospital to bring the joy of the Christmas season to those who cannot go home to celebrate with their families. Knights and their families serve food to the patients, sing Christmas carols, and visit with those who must remain in their rooms.

This is a very moving and rewarding event, so please come and bring your family. Please plan to arrive at the Hospital by 2:00 pm. The meal begins at 3:00 pm and lasts about two hours.

cropped-dc_shrine-mural1.jpgGreetings All,

It’s time for me to continue putting the list together for the March for Life on Friday, January 22, 2016. If I already have you signed up for 2016 no need to respond, but I did want to touch base from my mailing list from last year’s March for Life.  Please let me know if you would like a spot(s) reserved on the free bus transportation being provided by the K of C and the Richmond Diocese(ckoz654@aol.com)

We will follow the routine of past years as far as departure time, etc.( meeting at 7:45 a.m. for an 8 a.m. departure from the Pump Rd. location, travel to the Pastoral Center to meet with the Southside bus, and depart DC at 4-4:30 p.m.).  Darius, please let me know if you anticipate any substantive changes.  When signing up, please provide a mobile phone number.

Please pass this information along to friends, parish groups, etc.

Also, a Respect Life Holy Hour has been scheduled for January 19, 2016, @ 6:00 p.m. at St. Bridget Church.   The Holy Hour will be intended as a vigil of sorts for the March for Life and will include Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.  Please make every effort to join the Church in prayer for the success of our pro-life efforts.

From John McCulla:

Could you pass this on to our SBMM members?  This is a nice day of faith and fellowship with men of faith from across the Diocese.  Included below is interesting information on the pre-conference as well.

New this year! On Friday night before the conference we are hosting an informal roundtable discussion to explore ways and best practices for establishing and sustaining solid men’s ministry in the parish. This pre-conference event includes a bourbon tasting and heavy hors d’oeuvres. It will be held at the Diocesan Pastoral Center on Friday, January 15 from 6:30pm – 9:00pm. This is a great opportunity for men in leadership roles from parishes around the diocese to exchange ideas about how to build solid men’s ministry in a parish. The cost is only $10 per person to help cover the food and drinks. Space is limited to 70 participants, so reserve your spot today when you register for the main event. For your convenience, there is a block of hotel rooms available near the Pastoral Center at a discounted rate to accommodate any out-of-town attendees. Register for the pre-conference when you register for the main event today!

Note: The conference is listed on the events page of this website.

Make plans now to join the Family Foundation of Virginia for the 2016 Rally for Life and Day at the Capitol, Wednesday, January 13, 2016.  We will start with our annual General Assembly Prayer Walk, visit legislators and view committee meetings, and have a rally exposing Planned Parenthood.

Your legislators need to hear from you.  Seeing you in person is even more powerful.  We are pro-life and we are the majority, but you won’t get that from watching the mainstream media.  Neither do your legislators.  Please plan to spend a day standing for your values at the Capitol of our great Commonwealth.
