First ever St Bridget Movie night in the parking lot

The Knights of Columbus 5476 sponsored a family movie night in June. The objective was to get families from the parish together for fun, food, and a movie – the film was “ET”. By all accounts, it was a successful event.

Stay Tuned for future movie night features!!!

Bishop Knestout blessing the ultrasound machines

I wanted to draw your attention to the picture that appeared in a recent Catholic Virginian showing Bishop Knestout blessing the ultrasound machines that our Council donated, and the mission of the Pregnancy Resource Center in serving young mothers and fathers.

Both Bishop Knestout and Monsignor Carr made wonderful comments about the importance of the Knights of Columbus in supporting life at all stages, and through initiatives such as ours to help young mothers and fathers to choose to not terminate their pregnancies.  Brother Greg Stivers, Chairman of the board of the PRC during our initiative, spoke to his deep appreciation of our Council and our brothers, and how thankful and touched he was that the ultrasound initiative honored his wife Jennifer, may she rest in peace.

Executive Director Kim Warburton Sutherland (to the left in the picture) expressed her deep appreciation to our Council and the Knights of Columbus for all we have done to help the PRC succeed in its mission.  She stated that at least 100 lives of the unborn that would have been aborted have been saved over the past year – known through the testimony of the mothers who had a change of heart after seeing the ultrasound images of their children.

I am so grateful for the generosity and involvement of each of you and of our Council for what we set out to do and for what we accomplished.  Most recently, we helped raise a few thousand dollars more for the PRC in its Walk for Life.  Kudos to Brother Mike Kozak for coordinating this and leading the way.  Mike is the Pro-Life Director for our Council.

God bless each of you and thank you for your support for life, especially the unborn and the most vulnerable.

June 19 MOvie night

I am pleased to announce our first Family Movie Night….June 19th. The event kicks off right after Saturday night Mass, on the elementary school parking lot (bring your own chairs!).  The movie is Back to the Future, which will start at dusk.

We are working directly with the St. Bridget on this. In addition to the option of bringing their own food and beverages, the attendees will be able order pizzas in advance, a bag of popcorn, free juice and bottled water will be available, and the parish will contribute to an ice cream truck on hand. Bring your own cooler if you want, with the food and beverages of your choice.

The event is free.  If this works, we will be doing more of them! I consider this a great way to recruit for our Council.

Please get the word out, and if you are home that weekend, please come out and support us!

Thank you Ron Campbell and Eric Barker for your help in planning.  Dan Harms is helping with the sound.

Questions? Please give me a call!

June Food Drive Update

Hello Brothers,

First, thank you for your wonderful support that is making these food drives so successful!  This past month for Sacred Heart Center was great!

Would you please help promote the upcoming Food Drive with your family and friends?  The Food Drive this month will benefit the food pantry at the Commonwealth Catholic Charities and is on Saturday, June 26th.

We are also collecting donations for the service project being undertaken by our St. Bridget youth.  They are building beds for kids that do not have a bed to sleep on.  The contributions will be to Sleep In Heavenly Peace and will be used to purchase wood and building supplies.  A great cause!

Please help this to be a success by promoting the food drive in your family, with friends, and St. Bridget groups and networks.

  1. Buy food and/or gift cards to contribute at the food drive
  2. Send the attached PDF to your family and friends
  3. Forward this email with your message to others with the image of the flyer (below)
  4. Ask your contacts to send the flyer or announcement on to others

A pdf is attached and also embedded below.

And – let me know if you can help at the Food drive for one of the segments:

  • 8:45 to 10:00
  • 10:00 to 11:30 (includes delivery)

Thanks for helping get the word out about the food drive!  Let’s make this the biggest food drive yet!

Thank you very much!!!

Many thanks to you!!!!!
