Knights Help Needed for 2 Events

Worthy Sir Knights,

We need your help with two Diocesan Events;   this is a dire request for JUNE 9th and JUNE 22nd!

Throughout the Fraternal year, there have been only a few other knights and myself who have been in attendance covering the ushering needs for many Diocesan events.  I need your help now because I will not personally be able to attend these upcoming events to help with their ushering needs.

I’m bringing this to your attention now as the other Diocesan events this year had very light turn out by the Knights. This leaves those few of us that do show with an enormous amount of work to do for the events along with Carl Archacki, Usher Chair at the Cathedral.

Please consider assisting us with the following events:

June 9, 2:00 pm – Diocesan Confirmation

Arrive 12:45 pm
Ushers: Ralph Hyatt
Lead:

June 22, 10:30 am – Lay Ecclesial Ministers Mass

Arrive 9:15 am
Ushers: None to date
Lead:   VJ

Since I can’t be there myself, I need your assistance in reaching out to the Assemblies and Councils to find out which Knights can attend.  Carl and I accomplished the event June 1 alone, which was a huge undertaking.  I really hope that we can get Knights to attend the below two events, so we are not leaving Carl or anyone else attending short of assistance.

The Diocese is starting to notice that it is the same few Knights that attend and help usher the Diocesan events.  I’m sharing some concern that the opportunity for the Knights to be present and be a leading force for volunteering for the Diocesan events will begin to change and move elsewhere for support.  These events have provided the Knights great visibility and service opportunity, I believe it would be a loss if that no longer becomes available to us.

Can each of you here help to find Knights in your Assemblies or Councils to attend and help usher the below dates?  If you are receiving this email, I’m asking you specifically for help as I feel I’ve exhausted the steps in asking locally through emails and meetings.  So far, I only have one person that has signed up to assist (listed below).  We need volunteers to usher and at least one Knight at each to the be lead for all Knights in attendance that day.  Every one would report up to Carl Archacki as he will be well connected with the Diocesan contacts there on those days.

Again, the Diocese has noticed that the events for which it is expected that Knights will usher (which is all Diocesan events at Cathedral), that only the few same Knights come to assist.  There is increasing discussion that the Knights may not be able to cover the Diocesan events.  I hope not to lose this service we provide as it allows us great visibility and service to the church.  For those of you that have attended and assisted for ushering, I greatly appreciate your assistance.  Every minute you have provided was greatly needed and I thank you!

Past these two upcoming events, I will be transitioning out of my role at FN, but I will continue to support the ushering needs for the Diocesan events.  I hope to continue and organize the usher volunteer help by the Knights and have determined that the large number of events that take place throughout the year requires the assistance of other Assemblies and Councils, not just what is local to the Cathedral.  Open to your ideas and thoughts as well.

Thanks, Francis Thompson, Art Program Manager
