April 3, 2019

New York may have just legalized abortion up until birth, but unfortunately, our home state of Virginia is not far behind. State Delegate Kathy Tran recently introduced legislation that would, similar to the new law in New York, allow abortion up until birth. Thankfully, the bill failed in committee, but we also learned that Governor Northam endorsed this extreme pro-abortion legislation; even going so far in a radio interview to seemingly endorse infanticide.

It’s critical that every pro-life Virginian make a stand for life at the Virginia March for Life.

Schedule:

11:00 a.m. Rally at the State Capitol  – Capitol Square
12:00 p.m. March for Life*

*exact march route information coming soon!

Brothers,

Many people have contacted me and say that they want to ‘do something’ in response to the attempts to remove restrictions on abortions in Virginia. I am guessing that many of you have had the same experience.

I have become aware that  on April 3, 2019 there will be a “Virginia March for Life” in downtown Richmond. I believe that it starts at 11:00 AM. To my knowledge, I think this may be the first March for Life specifically focused at our state capitol.

Here is the web page of the organizing group:

I note that the Diocese of Richmond & the Diocese of Arlington are sponsors.

I reached out to some key folks in my parish to gauge if there was interest and energy around an event like this, and I find that folks are ready and willing to ‘get on board.’ We are pulling together a planning committee which will meet next week. We want to offer a number of options for folks, including: 1) we will do a mass that morning (probably around 8 AM) for folks who plan to go to the March, 2) we will offer buses from St. Mary’s to drop people off downtown and bring them home after the March 3) we will explore parish T shirts and/or signs for participants, 4) we will do parish -based catechesis on the issues at stake.

I am sharing this info with you in case your parish might want to collaborate with us in this effort. Or, if you are planning something at your parish, we’d be happy to share our ideas and information with your leadership. We are also open to hearing about YOUR plans, in case we might want to steal one of your good ideas!

Peace,

Michael
