Bishop Knestout Installation Mass – Request for Dignitary Drivers

As you know, the new year will begin with the installation of Bishop-designate Barry C. Knestout on Friday, January 12, 2018. The Knights of Columbus have been asked to help with activities for this most special event, including Ushers, Drivers and Honor Guards.

This request is for Drivers, who will be asked to:

Meet dignitary(s) at the Amtrak station(s) or Richmond Airport and transport to the Westin Richmond Hotel (6631 West Broad St, Richmond, VA 23230, across from Genworth  H.Q.)

Drive dignitary to the train station or airport for their return journey.

The number of dignitaries attending that need drivers stands at 7, with a co uple of invitations still pending. The dignitaries include:

Bishop John O.. Barres, Diocese of Rockville Centre

Bishop Herbert A. Bevard, Diocese of St. Thomas, VI

Bishop Emeritus David E. Foley Diocese of Birmingham, AL

Bishop Gregory J. Hartmayer, Diocese of Savannah traveling with Bishop Emeritus Kevin Boland, Diocese of Savannah

Bishop Francis Malooly, Diocese of Wilmington traveling with Monsignor Steve Hurley, Vicar General of the Diocese of Wilmington

Travel details are still being finalized. The hotel will provide a shuttle to and from the Installation Mass.  The Diocese will coordinate travel plans and they will contact drivers directly once I provide the names.

Edward J. “Ed” Gillikin, Sr., District Associate Marshall, Richmond Area will be managing 4th Degree activities and will seek help separately. It is unlikely there will be a Color Corp Honor Guard during the installation, so driving may be your only chance to engage with our Faith’s senior leaders. Please bear in mind the State Mid-Year Meeting is Saturday, January 13. It is important for all drivers to have a mobile phone, in case of last second changes.
