Dear Friend of Mary’s Shrine,

As we begin preparations to commemorate Ash Wednesday on March 1, it reminds us that the liturgical season of Lent provides a wonderful opportunity to prepare ourselves for the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Lord.

Prayer is at the heart of the Lenten Season!  It is our daily conversations with God that provide us with the grace for spiritual growth.  Through prayer, we ask the Lord to open our eyes to those things of this world which may hinder our faith.

To aid you in your prayer life this Lent, the National Shrine is pleased to offer our 2017 Lenten Daily Devotional.

This day-by-day devotional will guide you through the daily Gospel readings from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday and also includes a suggested daily activity to aid you in your spiritual growth.

We pray that this devotional will bring you closer to Christ through a daily commitment to Scripture and prayerful activity. We invite you to use our secure online form to request your 2017 Lenten Daily Devotional.

Monsignor Carr’s 75th Birthday Party

header_misc3Brothers,

This weekend is Monsignor Carr’s Birthday Party.  It is from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm in Mother Presentation Hall.  It will be much fun and will be a real tribute to Monsignor Carr for his service and leadership in our parish.  Please plan to attend with your families.  Let’s have a great turnout for Monsignor!

Council 5476 is making a contribution of $500 to the gift fund for Monsignor which he hopefully will use for a nice trip to celebrate this significant birthday.  The gift from the Knights of Columbus is in keeping with our core objective of taking good care of the needs of our priests.

for all brothers make a contribution as well to the gift fund, by pledging an amount to the Council 5476 gift.  We hope through your matching gifts that the KofC Council 5476 gift will exceed $1,000 or better.

Because the party is this weekend, in order to consolidate our gifts, we ask that you reply by email to Rick Witty (rick.witty@ferguson.com)or John McCulla (jkmcculla@comcast.net) what you will give and we will record your pledge amount.  Then, please mail your check to Treasurer Randy Boyd at 13925 Krim Point Road, Midlothian, VA 23114 for your gift amount.

We will let all brothers know the total gift we achieved from our Council brothers.

Thank you for your kind generosity.  Please join us in making a large gift to Monsignor Carr in recognition of his large leadership in our parish!

Fraternally,  John and Rick
