 PELLEI, Dante Joseph, of Henrico, passed away in the evening hours of September 13, 2014, 

displaying great strength of character, courage and faith in facing the cancer that
ultimately carried him away.  He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Angelo
and Erminia Pellei and sister, Ida Pellei all of New York.  He is survived by his loving
spouse, Jeanette Pellei and sister, Maria Pellei, both of Henrico; daughter, Janeen (and
Stephen) Casella, of Pawleys Island, SC; son, Steven (and Miho) Pellei, of Henrico;  son,
David (and Robyn) Pellei of  Charlotte, NC; daughter, Jennifer (and Vincent) Pietropaolo
of Wilmington, MA.  Grandchildren include Stephen, Margaret, Vincent, Anna, Megan, Dante,
Julia, George, Luke, David, Eryn, Cameron, Emilee, Alyson, Ida, Robert, Peter, Nicholas,
(and Alexander).

Born 1934 and raised in Fort Apache in the Bronx, NY. 1951, he graduated from Cardinal
Hayes High School, during which he was active in running track and played the trumpet in
the marching band.  After which he attended Fort Schuyler Maritime Academy, earning a
bachelors degree in marine engineering in 1955.  Commissioned as a Navy lieutenant he
served on the USS Sellstrom (DE-255) on the Early Warning Line out of Nova Scotia in the
cold war.    He was employed at Westinghouse locomotive propulsion and 18 years with
General Electric as a corporate manager and teacher in the Computer Learning Center.    While
raising 4 children he also earned his MBA from Union College in Schenectady, NY.   Upon
retirement he and Jeanette moved to Henrico in 1998.

He was known for his strong work ethic and devotion to his family, church, and community.
He was very active in the St. Bridgets Catholic Church as a founding member of the
parish’s Knights of Columbus, Men’s Ministry, taught bible study classes for 6 years, and
parish council member.   In prior years he was also active in the Cursillo and Marriage
Encounter retreats. 
A very selfless person,  he sought good in all people, and was respected by all he met. 
A devoted husband of 52 years, loving father, and doting grandfather. He will be greatly
missed by all who knew him. His family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday,
September 19th, at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020  Broad St, Glen Allen,
23060.  A Mass of christian burial will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20th at

St. Bridgets Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd, Richmond. Inurnment will follow at St. Marys Church

on Gayton Rd.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be
made to the Catholic Relief Services-Middle East Refugee Services or Eternal Word
Television Network (EWTN).
