Join us for Catholic Advocacy Day in Richmond
Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014
The Virginia Catholic Conference has set its annual Catholic Advocacy Day in Richmond for Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014. The day is an opportunity for Commonwealth Catholics to join together in the Virginia capital to urge lawmakers to protect life, the poor and vulnerable and to work for justice.
Watch this short video for the recent Catholic Advocacy Day highlights.
The Conference invites Advocacy Network members, parish groups, Catholic schools and other interested individuals to join in advocating for respect life, family, education and social justice issues. Arlington Bishop Paul Loverde and Richmond Bishop Francis DiLorenzo will offer welcoming remarks for the event, which will include prayer, briefings on issues important to Catholics and the Conference, and scheduled visits to legislators’ offices. Lunch and Mass will follow.
More details will be announced as they become available.
For planning purposes, parishes, schools, diocesan offices, and other organizations are respectfully asked to include this Save the Date notice on their calendars well in advance.

Subject: Carol’s Mom
Wanted to let you know that Carol’s Mom passed away this morning. Carol did make it there and it was peaceful. If you guys could tell her St. Bridget’s friends, I would appreciate it. Carol’s Mom was a “daily Mass person” for decades, so we are at peace but continue to pray.

A few summer notes:
Father Julio Buena is assigned to be our parochial vicar beginning August 1. Father Julz, as he likes to be called is a priest of the Archdiocese of Caceres in the Philippine Islands. He has pastored very large parishes there and tells me he is excited to be assigned here and looking forward to meeting you.
Daily Masses on Mondays and Saturdays resume on August 5. Please know how welcome you are to attend Daily Mass. What a wonderful way to begin the day!
August 15 is the Feast of the Assumption and all Catholics are required to attend Mass for the feast. Masses will be celebrated August 14th – Vigil Mass 5:30 pm and August 15th – Feast Day 7:00 am and 9:00 am.
