ZENIT—The World Seen From Rome

 Faith-focused Films Out on DVD

‘October Baby,’ ‘For Greater Glory’ Were Both Hits on Big Screen
NEW YORK, SEPT. 12, 2012 (Zenit.org).- Two successful faith-focused films from this season are now available on DVD.

The first, “October Baby,” is essentially a movie about forgiveness. It also shines a light on the little-known reality of survivors of failed abortions.

The DVD went on sale at Wal-Mart on Tuesday.

“October Baby” the book was also released this month.

Co-authors Eric Wilson and Theresa Preston take readers even deeper into the story of the movie protagonist, Hannah, whose increasing anxiety and sudden collapse point to the surprising circumstances of her birth. Hannah learns from her parents that she is adopted and the survivor of a failed abortion attempt.

ZENIT spoke with the co-producer of the film before it was released in March.

 True story

Also now available on DVD is “For Greater Glory.” This film follows the true story of the 1920s Cristero War — the people’s revolt in Mexico in demand of religious freedom. Directed by Dean Wright and produced by Pablo Jose Barroso, “For Greater Glory” stars Academy Award nominee Andy Garcia, Golden Globe winner Eva Longoria and Oscar Lifetime Achievement winner Peter O’Toole.

ZENIT covered the release of “For Greater Glory” in a series of articles, including a review from Rome Notes columnist Edward Pentin, and an interview with historian Ruben Quezada

The movie is available now in stores and online retailers.

In Service to Others

Little Sisters of the Poor Project

On Wednesday September 5th Brother Dale Matanic for Council 5476 planned and organized a furniture move to assist the Little Sisters of the Poor in Richmond, VA. This trip was to secure furniture donated to LSoP in order to support their upcoming thrift store project – Thrifty-Sisters. It was an excellent service project, about which Brother VanderSyde wrote, “I didn’t get a chance yesterday to thank you for organizing and planning the furniture move for LSoP on Wednesday. Thank you for including me too; it was a pleasure to be able to assist such a worthy cause. It helps remind me of the importance of service to others, and the long road to improving oneself through service to God and his children. God bless you!

Thanks Dale for all your good works!
